Family Literacy Month

Did you know that November is Family Literacy Month? Recently, Mrs. DeRosa's Early Education and Childcare students collaborated with our school librarian, Ms. Redding, to highlight ways that families can support literacy with their young children. Students spent time researching the topic of family literacy using resources available on the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's website. They worked in groups of 4-5 to create storyboards before recording a public service announcement to be aired on PAC TV. Check them out!

Freshmen Receive Chromebooks!

A few years ago a group of teachers and administrators met to discuss the growing trends in technology and ways that Silver Lake Regional High School could strive to integrate technology into the curriculum. The committee, which came to be known as TATL (Technology at the Lake) developed the following technology mission statement:

"SLRHS strives to integrate technology into our educational institution, aims to ensure all students, faculty, and administrators have the essential skills and methodologies of 'computer literacy', and are effective, capable and critical users of information and technology."

Today, we are excited to announce that our freshmen students are now in receipt of brand new Chromebooks as part of our 1:1 Chromebook Initiative. Over the next three years we will continue to distribute these devices as we move to become a 1:1 school for all grade levels.
